What the sound is for
Golf days, corporate events, business functions, private functions, school & community events and social events, plus other small to medium events that need clear, amplified sound.
It's a live sound service rather than a DJ service. Background music is available, but the focus is clear, reliable audio.

Announcements
Prize-givings, welcomes, schedules and housekeeping, delivered clearly over the PA.
Background music
Music played back through the system at a level that sets the mood without taking over.

R375an hour
For sessions of up to and including 4 hours, within 10 km of Riversdale.
- Standard audio equipment. PA speakers, mixer, wired microphone and music playback.
- Setup. Equipment set up at your venue.
- Operation. Sound run for you during your session.
Longer than 4 hours
Sessions over 4 hours are quoted separately, based on your timings.
Further than 10 km
Events within 10 km of Riversdale are at the normal local rate. Further away, an additional fuel and travel fee applies. It's quoted according to where the event is.
Any quoted amounts are confirmed with you before a booking is accepted.
The equipment
The standard setup below is included in the hourly rate.
Main PA
2 × Alto Professional TS415
A pair of powered loudspeakers. The main PA system for speech and music.
Mixer
Yamaha MG10XU
Balances the microphone and music so everything sits at the right level.
Microphone
Shure wired microphone
A dependable wired mic for speeches, presentations and announcements.
Playback & control
MacBook Pro
Runs background music and audio playback through the PA.
Supplementary speaker
JBL PartyBox 710
Brought along where it suits the event. It supports the main PA system rather than replacing it.
Cabling and standard audio accessories are included as part of every setup.
Lighting and effects aren't included
Watermelon Live Audio provides the sound only. Stage lighting, event lighting, disco lighting, moving heads, lasers, smoke & fog machines and special effects aren't currently offered.
If your event needs any of these, please hire or arrange them separately. The audio side will be taken care of.

The sound system is set up at your venue before your session begins.

Microphone and music levels are run for you during the session, so you can focus on your event.
Sending a request doesn't confirm your booking. It's confirmed once you've heard back about availability and any quoted amounts.

What does the R375/hour rate include?
The standard rate includes the normal audio equipment, setup and operation needed for your event. It applies to sessions of up to and including 4 hours.
What if my event runs longer than 4 hours?
Sessions longer than 4 hours are quoted separately. Include your start and end times in your booking request and you'll receive a quote before anything is confirmed.
Do you work outside Riversdale?
Yes. Events within 10 km of Riversdale are charged at the normal local rate. For events further away, an additional fuel and travel fee applies.
How much is the travel fee?
It depends on where your event is. There's no fixed amount: the fuel and travel fee is quoted separately based on the event location.
Is my booking confirmed when I send the form?
No. The form sends a booking request. Your booking is only confirmed once you've heard back to confirm availability and any quoted amounts.
Do you provide lighting or effects?
Not at the moment. Watermelon Live Audio provides the sound only. If your event needs lighting, smoke machines or other effects, please hire or arrange those separately.
Do you have wireless microphones?
Not currently. The setup uses a wired Shure microphone, which works well for speeches, presentations and announcements from a set position.
Are you a DJ service?
No. Watermelon Live Audio is a live sound and PA service. Background music playback is available as part of the setup, but the focus is clear, reliable audio for your event.
What size of event is it suited to?
Small to medium events that need clear, amplified sound, such as golf days, functions, presentations and community events. If you're unsure, describe your event in the booking request.
